Phenolic Kobo is light and strong. Wanted to buy the brass version because I lost it but it’s sold out. Phenolic version is surprisingly good. I hope the brass version will be back in stock soon. Copper version would be a great addition to the collection.

With the kobo holster, I have a nice set up. I’d better start training again! This kobo feels amazing in hand, the laser etching give it a good grip, so it won’t fly out of your hand easily.

Beautifully engraved, light weight, and feels great in my hands. It’s long enough where you can hit with either edge, and also can be used for hooking a persons limbs ( unlike the Brass Kobo ) which is much shorter and not good for hooking techniques. Great craftsmanship, and will be ordering some of their other items soon. Thanks Budo !

Great piece of kit! I’ve got all of your Kali sticks. I carry the phenolic longer Kali in my backpack everywhere I go in NYC every day and also now keep this shorter version up my sleeve. I walk 8-10 miles a day in NYC. This in my left hand.. I twirl it and clutch it, run my fingers against it for familiarity and sense of calm. I know how to use it and I keep it up my sleeve nicely concealed. Thank you !

Awesome! I already had one in brass, and it's -wonderful- , but with a crisp Canadian winter coming, I wasn't thrilled at the idea of carrying a thermally-conductive metal bar around, so I wanted to give myself options. The Phenolic is lighter, thicker, grippier-textured, and a much more practical EDC option, especially with gloves on. A quick test against a sparring-dummy tells me it's durable and surprisingly shock-absorbing. Packaging it with a buff and a length of paracord instead of conventional shipping materials is thoughtful, practical, and eco-friendly, too. Solid 10/10, highly recommended.

Have not had a chance to break it in yet, I received it today. I believe a day early. My first Phenolic item. And first order from you guys. This staff is awesome! I can just feel the power in it. I am surprised it feels like it has a metal core. No metal right guys? LOL I think it’s a keeper, Oh the carry bag is gorgeous, extremely great quality it’s a steal at this price.

Very nice! Extremely light yet very sturdy. I put in my front pocket and can’t really notice it. Great grip and looks amazing.

Beautiful craftsmanship! The detail of the seigaiha pattern looks great and gives the Kobo grip. The balance weight feels great. Not heavy, but not light, with feeling of strength and sturdiness. Glad I went with this version of the kobo (phenolic).

This is a phenomenal tool. The weight, size 7/8 instead of 3/4, and the texture adding more grip in the hand. It’s an EDC of epic proportions in a small, (just the right size) durable package.

The newest model is a marked improvement from the original! I love this thing. The engraving adds just enough grip and the slightly larger diameter means it’s just slightly nicer to hold. This all combines to allow you to truly deliver a devastating blow.

Just got out of heart surgery, and can’t wait to begin rehab, as well as Taikokyu with BB Phenolic Hanbo, Serrada sticks, and Kobo. Their quality, let alone precision and design, are not likely equaled. The fact that they are non-metallic, sturdy as my Glock polymer frames, and the kind of legacy quality prized by collectors, is a plus. For me, they are for exercise and defense, with the emphasis of defense for 72 year old heart patient and geezer. They shall, as soon as possible, see siblings in the form of Kali sticks, when available. I can see how these fine weapons could be carried CCW, and of course, be much quieter than G34 Gen5’s (yes, I pack 2 at a time). We won’t go into knives right now, as somethings remain in the shadows. Needless to say, Budo Brothers quality, attention to detail, superb design (especially the implementation of texture for retention and indexing), and strength to weight ratio, cannot be over valued. Your firm listens to your customers, and makes note of what other firms sell, but cannot deliver upon. Add to all this, your Video library and subscription service, and you surpass other companies of like mind. You have NO near-peer competition. For all that you do, THANK-YOU! Just received my Budo Brothers phenolic kobo (8 inch pocket stick). The Budo Brothers 1. Hanbo 2. Serrada Escrima sticks and 3. Kobo (yawara) Are all works of art. This yawara in particular feels so nice. It is such an incredible force multiplier. Plan to focus on and use these three tools in my stick related studies. #BudoBrothers #Kobo #PocketStick

This kobo is my first experience with phenolic and it's safe to say I'm actually in love with this material. It's so light but packs such an intense punch and is almost impossibly strong. The craftsmanship on this thing is next level attention to detail. While it's now an essential in my EDC kit, I'd also gladly let it stay forever on display. I waited too long to grab one of these.

Absolutely love this Kobo. The quality engraving, weight and material strength feels great. I honestly have trouble putting it down I end up swirling it while sitting at my desk.

Great and easy place to order from. Being in martial arts for 20 years like myself, I am always looking at new techniques and gear to utilize for myself both inside the martial arts school and outside. This kubo was very cool and interesting to me. I was impressed with how light yet solid feeling it was. This has become part of my EDC gear now and I plan to order a couple more to give to a couple of my buddies who would enjoy this since I showed them mine. Definitely love this and also that holster that is made for this.

Great self-defense carry tool!

I love how it's engraved. This will help keep the branding and markings permanent. The wave pattern and BudoBrothers logo wore off very quickly on my alloy kobo. A gloss finish to protect the paint would have been great. But the phenolic version is sick!

The phenolic material is premium; The finish (sans laser design) is very smooth and seemingly polished to a matte finish; The length and width are exactly as advertised; The weight is a bit lighter than I expected; The laser design is crisp and well plotted / executed so that it all looks extremely high quality; The color laser logo is very nice and looks like it will last for years. After obtaining an aluminum kobo a year or two ago I knew that I needed to act fast in order to secure a phenolic version after the first advertisement came into my media feed. Glad I did, these are great and exactly what is advertised! They handle really well with a gentle yet positive grip on the laser design encompassing 360d's. And, it is very durable as I have put it through the paces of joint locks - with and without throwing component - and performed delicate maneuvers as well, using the kobo for manipulating the body (limbs/joints) into a binding position / bargain position / handcuffing position. When I received my pair of kobo, I eagerly unboxed them to find they came neatly bundled (dare I say "presented") in a Budo Brothers head scarf. When I got them out, I marveled at their construction and the crafting. Firm, weighted -just right-, easy to manipulate. They went straight into my EDC bag!

Very nice doesn't seem to fit in the holster though.
