This is one heavy duty piece. I can barely even bend or flex it. 5 stars right out the box! Took a bit longer for the Hanbo to come in, but Budo Brothers amde up for it with a free video. Also, note, it wasn't their fault at all (Tariff issue). Anyway, the Hanbo is super dope! Light, real sturdy, easy to spin...having tons of fun and practice with it. High, HIGHLY recommend!!!

I definitely love the phenolic. I do see what people have said about it being slick. I am curious what people have done to improve the grip. I am thinking about trying acid etching. Overall feels like a well made and strong product.

While ordering on 04.08 the shipping was concerning, the end product (Hanbo) was received in the mail on 04.21. Hanbo is very well made. Carry bag is as well. Though I more rather use ties, rather than velcro in the bag. Very nice material. Waiting for another Budo Brothers item, the Kobo, to arrive later this week. Overall, the QUALITY is excellent and I am pleased with my decision to purchase. I look forward to doing subsequent purchases.

Budo Brothers' phenolic weapons are among my absolute favourite things to collect. Currently have a kobo and serrada sticks and only recently got the hanbo. I previously had a purple heart hanbo which I love. The phenolic is an entirely new level of appreciation. This thing is pure joy to wield. The weight and balance is perfect and it's kind of unbelievable how little effort it takes to generate incredible impact. No joke I will probably be buried with this thing. Hands down 100000% absolute must have.

Probably one of the most practical applications of using modern materials to make a hanbo. This allows us to take something reliable just about anywhere without having to worry about maintenance, and nobody will think twice over it.

Not a real weapon. I thought this was supposed to be a real weapon. But it is flimsy like it would break on 1 good strike. It's a child's toy, marketed as real for kids imagination at martial arts class. This is no real weapon for an adult male though. Lost respect for BudoBros.

I have grown accustomed to the double kali sticks. Those rattan sticks feel like part of me. This hanbo packs a punch for sure, but I think my body and style just prefers the shorter double sticks. I am looking forward to getting the phenolic kali double sticks when they are back in stock

This Hanbo is exceptionally well-made, perhaps too nice given the amount of abuse I intend to put it through. I do wish the stick had some texture, as it feels very smooth and tends to slip out of my hand easily. I’m curious to see how this will affect partner drills. Overall, I am excited to have added it to my collection. It is of very high quality, and I believe it will withstand the rigors of repeated use.

I ordered two Phenolic Hanbo. Each came with a premium carry bag of great quality. I love the weight (1 lb 4.6oz and 1 lb 4.7oz), the engraved design and beveled edges. I personalized mine by painting in the engravings with leather paint. The only two things I am picking at is that they are just a tad bit smooth but surprisingly provide enough grip (think smooth G10 scales) and that I was hoping they had more of a matte finish as to not reflect light. Other than that, these are great tools and well-crafted.

This Hanbo is hard as metal. It is heavy but just let it do the swinging. This will definitely hurt someone. Feels much different than wood but I love it! The finish was perfect as well. I did bevel the ends how I like them but that a preference. Great company and a great product.

I train in Shinto Muso Ryu Jojustsu. While the Jo is our primary weapon, we also train in Uchida Ryu Tanjo Justu- same size as the Hanbo. I have to say this Phenolic Hanbo is now a favorite. It feels like an ironwood without all the weight. It is almost too smooth. As you can see, I brought it along with me to a fair. Train in a weapons based art. Why anybody would want to go hands first especially against another weapon is beyond me. Don’t get me wrong, I still like my Escrima, boxing and small circle jujitsu, The Marines have a saying that a Marine and his rifle is the most dangerous weapon… I am hoping soon a phenolic Jo will be offered.

This hanbo is the best on the market. Forget comparing it to any wood hanbo, no matter how exotic or durable the wood, it just won’t perform like this. Silky smooth to handle, the transitions and momentum combined with the weight make this an insanely fast and unstoppable force of nature. If you don’t have one and practice or are thinking of practicing with a hanbo, get one. You won’t regret it at all.

I have wanted one for a while but I always miss out not this time, I love how the Hanbo feels in my hands a swings like nothing else, it matches my set of sticks too which is a bonus. I’m still recovering from a shoulder injury but I can’t wait until I can train full on, my wife doesn’t understand why I need so many sticks but she doesn’t have to cause I got a cool new stick!

This is a great product! I generally train with either a 2' tonbo or a 4' or 6' staff. I really wanted to switch things up a bit and see what a 3' would be like, assuming something similar to a boken or sword. Well - it's not quite, but I am absolutely happy with the purchase and training. First - the carry bag it comes with it great! same or similar to the fabric and stitching of a heavy gi. The staff itself comes exactly as it looks in the pictures - about an inch in diameter, 3 feet long and damn strong! One thing to note - it is indeed heavier than it looks. I see this as a plus though - after using it for a half hour, and then switching to my regular 4' rattan staff - that one feels very light. So some great strength training as a side benefit! Great job guys - Keep it up!

The hanbo is an excellent product. It’s sturdy, has a solid, balanced weight, and a very smooth texture that isn’t slippery. I’ve done some formal kata with it, swung it around like a 5 year old, and it works perfectly. Would recommend for people who are training with them.

This thing is badass. I tapped the back of my skull with it to see what I was dealing with and accidentally gave myself a small bump! Trust me when I say this thing would be absolutely devastating when striking with intent. Shins, knees, forearms, skulls... no match for the phenolic hanbō.
