This Hanbo is hard as metal. It is heavy but just let it do the swinging. This will definitely hurt someone. Feels much different than wood but I love it! The finish was perfect as well. I did bevel the ends how I like them but that a preference. Great company and a great product.

I train in Shinto Muso Ryu Jojustsu. While the Jo is our primary weapon, we also train in Uchida Ryu Tanjo Justu- same size as the Hanbo. I have to say this Phenolic Hanbo is now a favorite. It feels like an ironwood without all the weight. It is almost too smooth. As you can see, I brought it along with me to a fair. Train in a weapons based art. Why anybody would want to go hands first especially against another weapon is beyond me. Don’t get me wrong, I still like my Escrima, boxing and small circle jujitsu, The Marines have a saying that a Marine and his rifle is the most dangerous weapon… I am hoping soon a phenolic Jo will be offered.

This hanbo is the best on the market. Forget comparing it to any wood hanbo, no matter how exotic or durable the wood, it just won’t perform like this. Silky smooth to handle, the transitions and momentum combined with the weight make this an insanely fast and unstoppable force of nature. If you don’t have one and practice or are thinking of practicing with a hanbo, get one. You won’t regret it at all.

First off, I want to give praise to the super fast and efficient shipping! I absolutely love this hanbo! It feels great in the hands and is very well made and extremely durable! Also, the quality of the carry-case is the best I've seen to date! I have wanted one for a while but I always miss out not this time, I love how the Hanbo feels in my hands a swings like nothing else, it matches my set of sticks too which is a bonus. I’m still recovering from a shoulder injury but I can’t wait until I can train full on, my wife doesn’t understand why I need so many sticks but she doesn’t have to cause I got a cool new stick!

This is a great product! I generally train with either a 2' tonbo or a 4' or 6' staff. I really wanted to switch things up a bit and see what a 3' would be like, assuming something similar to a boken or sword. Well - it's not quite, but I am absolutely happy with the purchase and training. First - the carry bag it comes with it great! same or similar to the fabric and stitching of a heavy gi. The staff itself comes exactly as it looks in the pictures - about an inch in diameter, 3 feet long and damn strong! One thing to note - it is indeed heavier than it looks. I see this as a plus though - after using it for a half hour, and then switching to my regular 4' rattan staff - that one feels very light. So some great strength training as a side benefit! Great job guys - Keep it up!

The hanbo is an excellent product. It’s sturdy, has a solid, balanced weight, and a very smooth texture that isn’t slippery. I’ve done some formal kata with it, swung it around like a 5 year old, and it works perfectly. Would recommend for people who are training with them.

This thing is badass. I tapped the back of my skull with it to see what I was dealing with and accidentally gave myself a small bump! Trust me when I say this thing would be absolutely devastating when striking with intent. Shins, knees, forearms, skulls... no match for the phenolic hanbō.
